Sunflower Field Experience 2024

This year, we hope to amaze you with another great sunflower experience!  These delicate and stunning sunflowers will delight you as they show off their blooms!

This Sunday, September 1st is the last day.

As you walk along the meandering path through the sunflower field, we invite you to “slow down and enjoy the flowers” and allow the noise of everyday life to fade away.  With each step, we hope you feel the stress of the day melt away as you immerse yourself in the calming embrace of this natural sanctuary.

As you wander, focus on nature’s simple beauty.  Take pictures, and just sit and relax among the thousands of sunflowers in bloom.  Watch how the delicate blooms gently sway in the breeze and listen for the sound of pollinators gracefully moving from bloom to bloom.  The golden petals, glowing in the soft light, guide you through a landscape that feels untouched by the rush of the outside world.

We have many unique photo ops and places to just relax throughout the sunflower and flower blooming areas.  See some of these below.

Professional photography sessions are available for a fee and photographers will have access to the field during public hours as well as evenings and after hours.  Check our sunflower photography policy on the website for more information or contact Brenda@coreylakeorchards.com.

  • Picnic tables, vintage tables, family play area.
  • Parking near the field and priority parking for those who need to park closer.

Directions Once you Leave the Market:

  • Two ways to enter the sunflower field:
    1. Walk from the market up the hill past our terrace garden, continue along the marked path beside the grape vineyard and perennial flowering bush fields.  There are many flowers in both gardens to stop and admire!  Walk along the tractor lane to our back field.  The walk is 1,614 feet or 0.3 of a mile long.
    2. Drive to the sunflower field, park, walk through the sunflower field and return to the market.  Be sure to visit both of our other flower gardens accessible from the market parking lot.
  • Once you are at the sunflower field, there is a long and a short path to meander through.
    • Long path is approximately 900 feet or 0.17 of a mile
    • Short path is approximately 419 feet or 0.07 of a mile
    • If you walk from the parking lot to the sunflower field, take the long path through the flowers, and walk back to the parking lot, it is 4,128 feet or a little over 3/4 of a mile.  Let’s get your steps in!

 What to Bring:

  • Sturdy walking shoes as the terrain is rough, uneven, and rocky (you can carry nicer shoes for photo purposes if desired)
  • A sturdy stroller or small wagon is helpful if you have small children.  We will have a limited number of wagons on hand to borrow.
  • Sunscreen, hat, water, cell phone for pictures.
  • An open and positive attitude about cohabitating with the bees—they are busy pollinating the sunflowers and will not bother you if you don’t bother them!

Cutting and Caring for your Complimentary Sunflowers:

  • We will be loaning you our cutting shears. Please return these to the specially marked basket as you exit the field.
  • Select the flower you want and cut the stem at a 45-degree angle.
  • Leave around 2 feet of stem to allow the water to be “taken up” by the stem for keeping longer.
  • When you exit, return to the market to get a special bag, and fill it with several inches of water, and put your flower in it to take home.
  • Once home, put it in a vase, and change the water and re-cut the stem daily. Use lukewarm water and keep the flowers out of the sun!  If you follow these directions, they should last a week. 😊

We ask your help in following these rules:

  • Absolutely no smoking on any part of the farm.
  • Please stay on the sunflower field path to avoid damaging sunflowers that are still growing.
  • Please stay inside the marked boundaries of the sunflower area.  If you see a line of orange cones, we ask that you not go behind these for your safety and to help protect our crops.  Please do not enter any buildings or other areas of the farm.

While at the market, find some additional sunflower-themed gift and grocery items!  And try one of our ice-cold slushies!

We want you have a great experience!  We would love to see your photos on our social media page or email them to us at coreylakeorchards@gmail.com.
