Summer has officially arrived with summer-like temperatures and weather! Friday is the longest day of the year for daylight, over 15 hours!
The Summer harvest season is brimming with fresh fruits and vegetables! Plan to add more fresh, local produce to your daily diet and preserve what you can for the non-summer months ahead.
May the upcoming summer days spread sunshine into your life! |

June – A Season for Weddings
We love romantic stories that involve our farm, crops, and staff!
Local Couple Engaged over CLO Strawberries
Our scrumptious strawberries played a leading role in the recent engagement of a local couple. Chad and Shelby stopped by a couple of weeks ago for a flat of strawberries to make jam. According to Shelby, “And jam I did on Sunday, right through one of the most unforgettable moments of my life. While canning at Chad’s home, once his grandparents’ house, we found ourselves chatting about life and listening to 90s country. When “The Way You Love Me” by Faith Hill came on, Chad turned to me and asked, “If you had one wish, what would it be?” I gave a playful wiggle of my left hand. Confused, he asked what I meant. I smiled and said, “I want to be your wife.” In that moment, he dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him. Little did I know those sweet strawberries from Corey Lake Orchard would become part of our love story.”
Congratulations to Shelby and Chad! |

CLO Couple Ties the Knot
Last weekend, Amber and Grant exchanged vows at Blue Heron Barn. Both are familiar faces at CLO. Amber is Brenda’s daughter and helps at the market, and Grant is typically seen serving alcohol products during our tastings. CLO provided guests with pies, fresh strawberry shortcakes, take-home festive quarts of our wonderful strawberries, hard ciders, and wines. Our former flower vendor, Faith in Flora (who now specializes in weddings), provided the flowers.
Congratulations to Amber and Grant! May you have a lifetime of happiness! |

Already Picked Strawberries on the Market
The current weather is impacting the strawberries. Berries do not like too much rain at one time (like Wednesday night) or the high temperatures and humidity coming this weekend. They are very fragile fruits that need to be picked and enjoyed that day if possible.
We are trying to pick berries from our farm and then get berries from other farms until the season is over. We will try to have quarts available each day. Depending on what we pick we will also offer 5-quart boxes and 8-quart flats.
The quantity of berries we pick each day can vary depending on the weather. We will not pick if the berries are not ripe enough or if it is raining. Since we pick fresh every day, we usually will not have them on the market until about noon or later. |
|
With strawberries being in high demand right now, we recommend you call us and have us hold some for same-day pickup. Please note that we are not taking advance orders and have switched to “same day, set aside” orders only. See more on our ordering process below.
Please check our Facebook page for updates before driving out as things may change throughout the day. We know your time and the cost of fuel is valuable and we don’t want you to come for berries if we are sold out. You can also check our website, call us (269)-244-5690, or talk with one of our staff. |

Strawberry U-Pick Experience |
|
|
Our U-pick strawberry field is closed through the weekend due to the heat , rain, and humidity.
Call us or check our Corey Lake Orchards Facebook page for updates on days and hours open.
If you want to pick larger quantities of berries (like for jam making, freezing, etc.) we suggest you go to River Valley Farms. This Friday and Saturday are their last u-pick days of the season. Check their Facebook page for details on pricing, and hours open.
Below, the life cycle of a strawberry! |
|
Here’s what we will have:
- Strawberries, unless we sell out
- Early summer vegetables – carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, kohlrabi, radishes

Grocery
We offer select grocery products like salad dressing, jam, jelly, salsa, fresh eggs, cheese, yogurt, fresh milk, vanilla ice cream, crackers, chips, meats, dog treats, and more. We focus on offering products from companies located in Michigan, to support Michigan-grown and Michigan-made!
June is Dairy Month, an excellent time to try the fresh farm milk from Amish Country Dairy in nearby Shipshewana. The milk has a cream top so shake it up before using. It is pasteurized at a lower temperature, but not homogenized, and is easily consumed by those individuals who are lactose intolerant. |
|
Alcohol
We have a variety of spirits, wines, and hard ciders – most made on the farm using our surplus fruit and cider.
Summer has arrived along with summer-like weather! Try a chilled bottle of our Corey Lake Crisp. It is a dry white blend with a finish not unlike biting into a perfectly crisp apple. |
|
Gifts
Keep your favorite beverages cold (or hot) in a unique lake-inspired mug from Memories by Miles. They make perfect gifts for your lakeside hosts or yourself! |
