The staples of good health remain readily available!  You can’t beat summer produce for sheer variety, taste, affordability, and nutritional value.  Did someone say “watch your diet and exercise more?”  Easy, peasy, as this is the best time of the year to exercise more and “eat the right things.”  Depending on our Pure Michigan weather, it is enjoyable to be outside and be physically active right now.  And we have your eating fresh covered.  Just pick your favorite produce and add protein and other sides to it!

We believe the path to healthier eating starts with cooking more at home.  We are committed to providing you with healthy, quality, fresh produce to improve your overall well-being before those first flakes of Winter arrive!

And thanks for stopping by – rain or shine!  We hope to see you this week!

Looking Ahead

U-Pick blueberries at our farm are now finished for the year.  Thanks to all of you who came out to pick some!

If you are looking to pick your own, we recommend you contact Brookside Farms.  They have many acres of u-pick blueberries and are very family oriented.  Call (269) 657-3500 or check their Facebook page for updates.

Grocery
We offer select grocery products like salad dressing, jam, jelly, salsa, fresh eggs, cheese, yogurt, fresh milk, vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, crackers, chips, meats, dog treats, and more.  We focus on offering products from companies located in Michigan, to support Michigan-grown and Michigan-made!

This specialty food brand, Terrapin Ridge Farms, makes 84 great selling products including savory jams, garnishing aioli squeezes, mustards, dips, dressings, sauces, and grill and wing sauces.  We carry several of their mustards and have been pleased with their taste.  They can be used in many ways and make a tasty difference to an otherwise ordinary sandwich.

Alcohol
We have a variety of spirits, wines, and hard ciders – most made on the farm using our surplus fruit and cider.

With peaches on our minds, it seems like the right time to enjoy some Peach and Honey wine!  It is a sweet wine, a perfect blend of sweet peaches with a taste of honey.

Sit and Play Areas
We have seating areas around the market for you to rest, enjoy a bite or drink, or play a game.  We also have many tables and chairs in our ‘Onion Barn’, a covered pavilion at the top of the hill behind the market.  We have a small children’s playground.  Meet up with friends or just take a needed break in the countryside!
Gifts
We carry an assortment of gift items from local artisans.  Many of them have updated their offerings this week with new and different items.
The Recipe Rack
Ideas for Using Fresh Produce
Over the years, we’ve collected an assortment of recipes that use our produce.  We haven’t tried them all, but we look for recipes that we would like to eat and are relatively easy to make.  We invite you to visit the recipe page on our website for ideas.

Roasted Tomatoes
Did you know you can easily roast tomatoes?  They are good with spaghetti, alongside meatballs, or as a side dish.

Basic Corn Chowder
While sweet corn is in season, try this simple corn chowder on a summer evening.
How to Preserve Food
Ball Mason, a leader in home canning supplies, has a set of canning and preserving guides available.  They describe the process and include how-to information on canning, freezing, pickling, dehydration, and making jam for a variety of fruits and vegetables.
