Memorial Day is a time to remember and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms.  We recognize those who serve or have served in the U.S. armed forces, along with first responders who risk their lives for us every day.

Many of us have friends and family members who are serving.  Let us remember and support them this weekend and throughout the year.

We welcome back our many lake guests!  Whether you are in the area for just the weekend or returning for the summer, it is nice to have you return!

Take a moment to stop by the market!  We have lots of good things to eat – fresh produce and new products for you to try.  See below for delicious offerings that will save you time this weekend or to have handy for guests.

Fresh Produce on the Market
Asparagus and Rhubarb
We have a good supply of freshly picked asparagus and rhubarb.  Asparagus is quick and easy to cook, and there are many recipes for ways to use it.  This is a seasonal vegetable with just a few weeks left.

Bulk quantities are available.  Now is the time to get asparagus and rhubarb for freezing or preserving.  Please call ahead at (269-244-5690) if interested in 10 pounds or more so we can have it ready for you to pick up.  Buying 10 lbs. or more is discounted.

National Asparagus Day is May 24, and we are ready to eat!  Asparagus production in the United States is concentrated between three states: California, Michigan, and Washington.  It is the perfect cookout veggie, and can be pan-seared, fried, baked, or grilled.  It is full of nutrients like fiber, folate, and vitamins A, C, and E – in other words, it is good for you!
Lettuces, spinach, kale, and mushrooms freshly picked from Bankson Lake Farms, arriving each Friday morning.

Every good salad needs a good dressing.  Try one of our new dressings from Terrapin Ridge Farms

We also have:

  • Ice cold slushies!
  • Hanging flower baskets (limited supply)
  • Lettuce bowls for your patio
Bakery
Baked Goods

  • Assorted “take and bake” fruit pies, including rhubarb, which we only make in the spring
  • Assorted cookies, breads and muffins
  • Cinnamon rolls (made into bunny shapes!) and cinnamon bread – take and thaw
  • Donuts—Saturdays and Sundays only—in buttermilk, blueberry, and cherry flavors

The bakery is a busy place.  We just finished making more of our most popular pie – strawberry rhubarb!

We are also making cherry pies for the weekend!
Strombolis
Moe is back for the year and busy making strombolis!  We have 10 different types, ranging from breakfast to pizza to traditional styles.  They are frozen, just take home and bake.  They are great for the holiday weekend or to have handy when you need a meal!
Grocery
Many of the products you have enjoyed in the past are back for the year.  Stop by and take a look at the assortment of chips, cheeses, jams, jellies, honey, maple syrup, meats, and more.

Gluten-free is back!  Look for new gluten free products in the freezer and in the grocery section.

We also have a new favorite squeeze, the Avo Everything Aioli Squeeze, made by Terrapin Ridge Farms.  It contains ketchup, pickle, mustard, onion, mayo, and chiles.  Perfect on burgers, sandwiches, wraps and fried fish.  Dip French fries and finger foods for a fab and tasty treat.  Warning: we have found it addicting!
Alcohol Offerings
Wines.  Nice assortment to choose from – dry, sweet and semi-sweet wines in whites and reds.

Hard ciders.  Hard ciders.  We are continuing to make more.  Available now are blueberry, cherry, maple, peach pear, and rhubarb.

Spirits.  Find apple, peach, and pear brandy; vodka; and white whiskey.

May is Michigan Wine Month
Governor Gretchen Whitmer has proclaimed May as Michigan Wine Month.  Michigan’s wine grape and wine industry has an over $900 million economic impact, supports thousands of jobs, and attracts more than a million visitors annually to over 250 wineries and tasting rooms across the state.

With more than 45 grape varieties grown across over 4,000 acres, Michigan winemakers are producing an increasingly diverse and high-quality portfolio—from classic cool-climate varietals to sparkling wines and innovative styles.
