U pick Strawberries

$5 quart, 4-quart limit
Call us at 269-244-5690 to reserve your spot
As most of you know, we’re having a difficult strawberry year, losing all our early berries to frost. Now, our last U-pick variety has had more days of rain than it wanted, including pounding rain, the kind that makes a mark on the berry.
We decided late Friday to open a section of the strawberry field this Saturday, June 13, for u-pick and see how it goes. You will be parking in the parking lot; it is a short walk from the lot to the field. Barb will be meeting everyone back at the field, giving you baskets, and a quick tutorial on how to pick the strawberries that are not damaged.
This will allow those families who want to bring their kids out for the “experience” to be in a strawberry field and see how they grow, and to pick just enough for a “strawberry shortcake” or fresh eating.
Please reserve a timeslot to pick by calling us to make a reservation for tomorrow morning. We can only take several groups out at a time. Call us at 269-244-5690 and we will give you all the information you need. There is a 4-quart limit of picking in our “shortcake experience” field, $5 quart. We will also try to accommodate walk-ins.
If you want to pick larger quantities of berries (like for jam making, freezing, etc.) we suggest you go to River Valley Farms in Constantine. Check their Facebook page for details on pricing, and days and hours open.
Once we see how tomorrow goes, we will determine if we are able to open on other days this coming week.
Thank you for your understanding of our difficult berry year. We appreciate you!

Visit our Market. When you are finished picking, we encourage you to come to the farm market on Corey Lake Road. We have fresh produce, children’s play areas and coloring station, and indulge in our bakery treats, slushies, coffee or other beverages. We have vintage strawberry displays to look at, many strawberry gifts, and everything you need to go home and make strawberry shortcakes (shortcakes are made in our bakery, ice cream, and whipped cream topping.)
What if I want more than 4 quarts? If you are seeking larger quantities, here are some other options.
- Pick a few quarts for the “experience,” and buy the remaining amount you want from our market.
- Consider other farms that offer U-pick. You can locate other farms by going to MichiganfarmFun.com and searching this online directory for u-pick strawberries that are closest to where you live. The closest farm to us is River Valley Farms located in Constantine. Check their Facebook page for location and hours.
Tips to make your U-pick Experience the Best!
Arrival Time and Row(s) Assignment. Please arrive as close to your scheduled reservation time as possible. Check in with our staff at the market who will direct you to the field. If you are unsure of how to pick or have questions, please ask them for assistance. We will do our best to get you (and your group) quickly assigned into a row(s) for picking. Please be patient as we get all groups in your time slot assigned and wait for rows in the field to open from earlier guests.
Containers. We will provide quart boxes for you to pick in that you can take home. However, if you are picking multiple quarts, we recommend you bring a tub, tote, or box to set your quarts inside of for the trip home.
Payment and Check Out. Please check in and out with our staff at the market. The field may close should all ripe berries be picked. We accept cash, checks, credit cards, and digital payments.
Children. Children are welcome but must be supervised at all times We are a working farm. Keep in mind that it may be difficult to get strollers in-between the rows. We want everyone to have a safe, fun time on the farm.
Food and Drink. Food safety regulations prevent the consumption of food and drink in the field. Please do not eat the strawberries while picking. You can take drink and snack breaks at your vehicle. Anyone in your group who is not picking may bring a chair and sit in the outside area of the field also.
Attire and Hazards. Depending on the weather, you may want to bring a hat, sunscreen, and bug spray. Socks and shoes (rather than sandals) are highly recommended as we have uneven terrain and “pokey” straw/weeds. You will also be doing some walking. There are many natural hazards such as rocks, sticks, bees, weeds, squawking killdeer birds, mud puddles, and rough ground to avoid.
